Choulo, Aliis: Mercurialis vero voce eâ, indigitari mavult militatem monomachiam, rudibus armis factam, quam hermippus Mantinaeos invenisse, et Cyrenaeos aemulatos esse scribit, apud Athenaeum l. 4. c. 13. In hac certatores haudquaquam gladiatorum instar se usque ad necem feriebant, sed rudibus telis quasi sese invicem petere simulantes, quandoque etiam revera ferientes, et plagarum inflictiones et aversiones ediscebant.
